» Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester are saddling up for a new country film entitled "Love Don’t Let Me Down," reports Variety. They're set to costar with country music icon Tim McGraw and "Eragon" star Garrett Hedlund. Gwyneth takes the role of a falling supernova, a country star whose career was once admired, but is headed for a free fall.

She soon gets wrapped up with a new country star (Garrett) whose popularity is fleeting. In somewhat of a resurrection tour for Gwyneth’s character, the two embark on a rollercoaster of a journey with her husband/manager (Tim) and a powerful beauty queen/budding singer (Leighton). They all — go figure! — get tangled up romantically, creating controversy.

"Brothers" star Tobey Maguire is going to take a crack at producing while Shana Feste ("The Greatest") is directing. Next year is set to be pretty big for Leighton, as she is starring in "Date Night" with Steve Carell and "The Roommate" with Cam Gigandet. Other than "Iron Man," Gwyneth's career up until now has taken a backseat to her life (she has two children with Coldplay frontman and husband, Chris Martin). Tim currently has blockbuster hit out, "The Blind Side."

» It's been a rocky few months for career-driven stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin – and things don’t look set to improve in the New Year. Just weeks ago, Coldplay singer Chris, 32, was forced to deny reports that he cheated on his wife with Hollywood starlet Kate Bosworth.

And now I’m told that the couple face months apart when Gwyneth starts working on two movies next year. Gwyneth, 37, left, took some time out to look after their children, Apple, five, and three-year-old Moses, but has just signed up for the new films. ‘Gwyneth will be spending a lot of time away to focus on her new movies,’ says a source.

‘She goes to Berlin in the spring to make The Danish Girl. Before that, she will star in a small-budget independent musical set in America’s Deep South. She loves singing so it was a role she couldn’t turn down.’ Busy Gwyneth is also committed to promoting Iron Man 2 with co-star Robert Downey Jnr. But a spokesman insisted her new schedule ‘leaves plenty of time for her family’.

She even incorporated an attendance last week at the star-studded opening of a hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco, alongside Miranda Kerr and Jennifer Aniston. The actress looked every inch the Grecian goddess as she appeared.

Paltrow pays tribute to father

» Gwyneth Paltrow has made a moving tribute to her late father, Bruce Paltrow. The Iron Man actress, 37, dedicated her latest Goop mailout to producer Bruce, who died in 2002.

She wrote: "I dedicate this Thanksgiving letter, on parental acceptance, to my father, who would have been 66 today." She continued: "He was the greatest parent, friend, rabbi any girl could ever have asked for. Happy Birthday Bruce. And Happy Thanksgiving everybody."

Bruce produced numerous stage, TV and film productions, including 2000 film Duets in which Oscar-winner Gwyneth starred. He died of cancer and pneumonia complications while in Rome celebrating his daughter's 30th birthday. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is said to have written the hit track Fix You in response to his wife Gwyneth losing her father.

Established by model and actress Lisa B, the foundation has trustees such as Yasmin Le Bon, Trinny Woodall, Anya Hindmarch and Natalie Massenet, and raises money for charities such as Kids Company and the Foundation for the Relief of Disabled Orphans.

» Taking on a fairly interesting duo of roles, Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicole Kidman have both signed on to star in The Danish Girl. The film is based on the real life relationship between Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener, but is adapted from a David Ebershoff novel dealing with the same story.

Although dealing with a relationship, the film is not your typical boy meets girl, girl meets girl, or boy meets boy tale. Einar Wegener was, in fact, the first post-operative transsexual, and the film follows his and his wife Greta on the journey Einar takes from playing around with gender roles, to finally getting a sex-change operation.

In The Danish Girl, Paltrow will play the role of Greta, a portrait painter who asks her husband Einar to step in when a female model fails to show up for a sitting. Kidman will be playing the role of Einar
